World suitcase project
This social project is an educational approach to global and united citizenship.
Explore one or more countries with suitcases filled with objects, images and educational sheets to discover, feel and understand a culture. The animations allow children to discover these countries using their five senses.
The workshops are adapted according to the age of the audience and their number.
Main goals :
Promote diversity – knowledge of the cultures and living conditions of populations elsewhere in the world.
Curiosity and respect – Learning to ask questions about the world around them. Developing values (human dignity, global fraternity, justice).
Skills – Acquisition of skills linked to actions. Learning while having fun, crafting or cooking.
In practice (Animations last around 2h30) -we come to you, or you can come to us!
1.Presentation/introduction – explain what we are going to talk about.
2. Open the suitcase and dive into its universe… introduce the country, locate it on a map. Ask one or the other child to come and choose an object from the suitcase (a bit like a treasure) and explain the daily life of the inhabitants based on the objects chosen.
3. Arrange photos on the table, make connections and telling stories….
4. In a visual and interactive way, children discover a little history, the landscapes, fauna and flora, culture and folklore of this unique country in the world.
5. Then, time for a creative (or cooking) activity linked to this culture for a moment of imagination, creation and sharing.
For whom ?
For all children aged 3-12 years old.
1. In schools (PECA – Cultural and artistic education program).
2. In youth centres or refugee centres in Belgium.
3. Youth movements (Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts)
