Pascale Croonenberghs, founder of Culture Kids in 2018.
A bit of a globe trotter, and having lived abroad from an early age, I’ve been very lucky to have observed and experienced many cultures. Learning to embrace diversity has profoundly enriched my outlook on life and sparked a lifleong curiosity and desire to understand the connections that bind us.
After high school, I embarked on a sabbatical year that would change my life. Working as a volunteer at a child community center in the slums of Santiago, Chile, I developed a passion for teaching, and was also taught one the most precious lessons in life. These families living in extreme poverty were the humblest and most generous I’d ever met.
This experience set me on a teaching path, and after completing university I worked in various countries, engaging with children from different social backgrounds and applying various pedagogical approaches. Each experience reinforced my vision and commitment to education and cultural exchange.
Fast-forward to Belgium, and a mother of two wonderful girls, in 2018, I decided to create a cultural centre dedicated to providing extra-curricular educational and cultural activities for children. It’s much more than a project; its core is a reflection values, built on the belief that diversity, inclusion, and connection are essential for children’s development and well-being. Our activities are designed to make learning fun, to inspire curiosity, and help those in need.
This mission has now become a family endeavor. Julia, half Mexican and half Belgian, has grown up embracing these values and recently returned from Tanzania, where she volunteered in a local school. Former colleagues have also joined the team and share the same passion. Together, we work to provide children with opportunities to grow, connect, and thrive in an ever-changing world.
Culture Kids is our small but meaningful contribution to shaping the next generation and creating a better future.
